Unto the Webministers of the East Kingdom, Greetings.
This notification is being published to document the situation below.
|Greetings All Webministers –
I must ask you to be my eyes and ears. If anyone sees on Social Media or hear from local members they are having fustrations with something online that may be part of this Office, please direct them to the Support Center website http://helpdesk.eastkingdom.org to submit a ticket. That way either myself or one of the core office staff will see it and be able to respond to them in a timely manner. A direct email may not be seen by the person it was sent to, while the tickets can be viewed by everyone.
In regards to this specifically, there is certainly ongoing confusion with the Polling and Discussion Lists for each Order which is nobody’s fault as the current set up is confusing. (I am compiling together a listing of what the Offices involved in this process actually handle in regards to issues that may crop up.) At the moment it appears that everyone believes that the Webministry handles everything regarding the Pollings, which is not true.
In brief, this Office can only maintain the List Access for those found on http://lists.eastkingdom.org/EmailLists.html. We are not on the Polling Lists, nor can we see any of the information being shared on the Discussion Lists. We have already verified and re-verified the polling lists are set up correctly. (They are using the same system that this mailing list is using, so in a way we are successfully testing the system with every email we send to each other here.)
It is the Moderators of the Lists that should be the contact by the Discussion List members regarding these issues. Unfortunately there is no record of who the Moderator is for each List posted anywhere. (I am going to see if there is a way we can get that published for the future.) I believe that they are supposed to be known by each Order, but without knowing how their information is being sent around, I do not have that answer at the moment.
Now as a Local Group, Kingdom Guild or Kingdom Office Webminister, I believe that you are being turned to for answers, so hopefully the following will help you direct those asking towrds the right direction to alleviate confusion and any frustrations that people are feeling at the moment.
If someone from any of the Orders is not getting any emails from the Discussion List, a few troubleshooting steps they can take is to:
a) Check their SPAM folder for the emails or verify their SPAM settings and make certain that they are alowing all emails from *@lists.eastkingdom.org.
b) They can email the list at email@example.com (changing grouplist for their group – wmstaff, for example) to remove themselves, and then email firstname.lastname@example.org to try and resubscribe to the List. The Moderator will receive this request and have to process it.
c) If that doesn’t work, they can try to go to the list info webpage below and try to unsubscribe and then resubscribe to the list. The Moderator will be notified of their new request and should be able to process it for them.
d) Login to their Order website (shown below) and verify that they are receiving “Regular” emails, not Digest. At the moment, Digest does not process.
e) For anyone to get information on their List they should use the following website string, changing ‘grouplist’ to the list they want to see.
For example: https://lists.eastkingdom.org:10000/virtualmin-mailman/unauthenticated/listinfo.cgi/wmstaff
If someone did not receive the Polling Link email, they can email the Polling Clerk directly at email@example.com to advise them that they did not receive it for their Order, and if they could have a copy directly sent to them.
I hope this information helps. If you have any more questions, please do not hesistate to ask!
Thank you for your time and all of your efforts! They are very appreciated!
As always, if you have any additional questions; concerns; or information regarding the above, or any current events, please do not hesitate to contact the Webministry at firstname.lastname@example.org or through the Support Center at http://helpdesk.eastkingdom.org website.
In Service to the Kingdom,
