This document outlines the procedure for transitioning from the East Kingdom’s legacy email server to the new service powered by Google for Nonprofits.

- What About My Officer Email?
- Set Your Initial Password
- Logging In to Gmail for the first time
- Already a Gmail user?
What is My User Name?
Your user name starts with your member number, followed by “@members.eastkingdom.org”. To log in to any of the new East Kingdom services, you will need this address. Regardless of the office(s) you hold, your login is always based on your member number. For example, if your member number is 7654321, your user name is 7654321@members.eastkingdom.org.
What About My Officer Email?
You will be able to send and receive email as all of the offices/positions you hold through this one account. For information on how to change your “From” address, please see the Changing Your “From” Address document.
Set Your Password
If you have not already done so, you will need to reset your password to one of your choosing. This typically only needs to happen when you first receive your new account, such as if your account was created when we migrated your first Branch or EK Department. Subsequent migrations do not require additional password resets.
To reset your password, please follow these steps.
- Start by visiting the “lost password” page. (You can also go to members.eastkingdom.org and click the “I forgot my password” link.)
- Enter your recovery email address and click the “Change” button. Do not enter your members.eastkingdom.org account name – your recovery email address is the personal/private address you provided when your account was created. If you don’t know your recovery address or no longer have access to it, you will need to ask your local branch or office webminister to update your recovery email address, or contact the webministry for assistance.
- Look for a message titled “[East Kingdom Email] Password recovery link” in your recovery account and verify that the member number is correct, then click the link it contains. (This link is only valid for one hour; if you wait more than an hour you will need to start again from the beginning.)
- Choose a new password and enter it twice, then click the Change button. Select a password that is not easy to guess, but that you will be able to remember, or write it down on a piece of paper and store it in a safe location. This will reset your password in East Kingdom’s private system as well as for your Google Account.
Logging In to Gmail for the first time
- In your browser, go to https://mail.google.com/.
- Enter your East Kingdom login (membernumber@members.eastkingdom.org),then click “NEXT”.
- Enter your password, then click “NEXT”
- You will be prompted for two things before accessing your mail for the first time:
- To accept Google’s user agreement. You will need to accept this before you can access your Inbox.
- To enter a recovery phone number and/or email address. Since account recovery is handled through the East Kingdom servers, you can feel free to skip this step.
- The first time you access your Inbox, look to the far left of your screen. These are your “labels”, which act a lot like folders, but email can have multiple labels. If your Office(s) have already been migrated, you should see some additional labels under “Drafts” that have all of the emails that we transferred to your account.
Already a Gmail user?
- From your existing Gmail account, click on your user icon at the top-right of the screen (above the gear and to the right of the bell). A small menu will appear – click the “Add account” button.
- On the next page, type in your account name (membernumber@members.eastkingdom.org), then click Next.
- Proceed to enter your password and authenticate.
- You’ll be sent to your new East Kingdom GMail inbox. If you want to swap between accounts, you can so do in the same menu you used in step one. Just click on the name/icon for your “other” gmail account, and you’ll swap back and forth easily.
